A Sheltered Print Workshop
in a Work-Life Balance Environment
for Individuals with Autism
Creating Opportunities, Bringing Out Potentials
Autism is known as a neurological disorder. It is believed that Autism manifests itself during the first three years of a child's life. This condition affects the neurological normal brain function, subsequently affecting the development of a child's communication and social interaction skills.
Individuals with Autism have issues with non-verbal communication, a wide range of social interactions, and activities that include an element of play, conversing, learning and socialising. Autism occurs in all ethnic and socio-economic groups and affects every age group all over the world.
In recent years, the awareness of Autism as a developmental disorder has heightened in general in Malaysia particularly, Sabah. Early Intervention Programs are necessary and imperative to prepare children who have Autism from the age of three years old to pre-teens with the required life skills so that they can function and live independently. However, there seems to be a lack of support and opportunities for emerging adults who have Autism from the age of 18 years old and above to learn a skill and be gainfully employed.
This is where we come in.
Our trainees have unique personalities and different abilities that require an environment that is safe, conducive, supportive, understanding and able to accept their differences. We not only create a work-life balance environment for them to work in, but also provide training in printing and simple day-to-day operation of the business.
Our sheltered workshop is operated as an authentic Community-Based business with the aim to benefit young adults with Autism to be Independent, Skilled and Gainfully Employed.
